Recovering Lost Files With Flash Recovery

With the advancements in technology, millions of files are stored on computers. While in practice this is a great idea, human error results in thousands of files being lost every day. One miss click, one wrong screen touch, and personal files are lost, believed by many to gone permanently. While in major hardware failures this is true, the majority of accidental deletions are recoverable leaving users in need of a SD card recovery. For several years, companies have been releasing file recovery software in the hopes of recovering these lost personal files. One software that is quite successful at SD recovery is Flash Recovery by SoftOrbits.

SoftOrbits Flash Drive Recovery

SoftOrbits Flash Drive Recovery can recover data from any type of storage media (music sticks, digital cameras, flash drives, USB drives, PC cards, etc). This tool restores all corrupted and deleted files even if a memory card was re-formatted.

Demo

The program features a basic user interface that shows all available drives, the file type of the drive, the storage capacity of the drive, and the top includes the logo for the program, which has no functionality other than identifying the program. It also includes a language bar to allow different languages for different users. There are three buttons at the bottom, two involving the purchase of the product and the 3rd being a scan option for a selected drive. When selecting this option, the interface changes slightly to include two text boxes, a file directory, and a recovery button to begin the process. The left box shows all recoverable files, the right shows a preview of the selected file(s). On the bottom is a file destination option that allows the user to select where the recovered files are saved. By accessing this, the user is able to select alternate drives to recover the files preventing the same drive from re-losing the files. After selecting files to recover, clicking the recover option will restore the lost files to the selected directory.

Flash Recovery is available for all copies of Window ranging from Windows 2000 to Windows 8 and Server 2008. It works on thumb drives/ flash drives, SD cards, Micro SD, and most other removable storage excluding DVDs/CDs. Flash Recovery will recover most, but not all files; the majority of supported files are image files. Cameras can be connected if the computer recognized them as flash drives, and can be recovered if files are deleted, but to recover the files to the same camera, adequate storage must be available on the card. Some of the locations listed in the file directory cannot be used for file recovery without admin permission; this can be done by right clicking the Flash Recovery application and selecting run as administrator, this only applies to Windows 7 machines and later.
